Anne Dare | Art Maker & Graphic Designer
I have crafted my own art and design education through the years. It has been a lifelong practice full of happy accidents and experimentation. Observation and intuition are essential parts of my artistic journey. It reflects maybe my search for a deeper understanding of my surroundings and my identity as a woman.
My creative process is mostly guided by a sense of exploration, transformation and randomness. It is a meditative language defined by the feminine form and its poetry, the association of images and words, the real and surreal, the abstract and the figurative. All are intertwined with each other in most of my compositions to create a new story.
I incorporate printing and sgraffito techniques with acrylic or ink on a wood surface that I recycled. The texture and the imperfections of the wood often shape the direction of my work and allow me to layer, sand and sometimes carve. Most of my artworks are small, intimate and rustic. I am now working on transferring my technique on larger formats and on canvas.
My involvement with graphic design came later in my professional life. I acquired knowledge and skills on my own and by working for a marketing agency that took a chance on me and allowed me to grow. That experience taught me that nothing is impossible and one can always learn. There are no age nor time barriers. You are never an "expert", you become one slowly... Now, I mostly freelance and choose my projects.
